Ucom Supports the Development of Space Engineering in Armenia
With a strong focus on advancing technological education in Armenia, Ucom is supporting the rollout of CIPR Aerospace’s “Space 1.0” educational programme in Vanadzor and Odzun. The initiative aims to make space science and space engineering education accessible to schoolchildren and teachers, helping realise the idea of “From Classroom to Orbit.”
Ucom’s General Director Ralph Yirikian and CIPR Aerospace Founder and Director Mary Hrachoohi Boghosian handed over the “Space 1.0” educational kits to Vanadzor’s Viktor Hambardzumyan Primary School No. 25 and Odzun’s Hovhannes Odznetsi Secondary School No. 1. The kits include a small artificial satellite, a ground station, a parachute system, and a user manual. Prior to this, CIPR Aerospace specialists trained the teachers of these schools in the programme’s modules, enabling them to conduct full-fledged lessons for their students.
“At Ucom, we believe that education and technology together shape the future capabilities of a country. We are pleased to launch this collaboration, as practical skills developed at early stages of technological education become a strong foundation for future professional growth. We will continue supporting initiatives that help cultivate the technological potential of the new generation and expand opportunities for youth both in the regions and in the capital,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director at Ucom.
CIPR Aerospace, founded by space engineering specialist Mary Hrachoohi Boghosian, who has more than 20 years of experience at NASA, has in recent years developed Armenia’s first CubeSat, CanSat, and PocketQube, as well as space science and aerospace engineering educational programmes for schools and universities in Armenia.
“Our goal is to make space education accessible to all schools in Armenia, regardless of the region or community. Through this kit, students can gain not only theoretical knowledge but also real engineering experience — working with satellites, ground station’s communication systems, and data acquisition technologies. We are grateful to Ucom for its consistent support of technological education,” said CIPR Aerospace Founder and Director Mary Hrachoohi Boghosian.
The initiative aims to enhance STEM education, introduce foundational skills in aerospace engineering, strengthen the technological potential of regional schools, and create new practical and career opportunities for future engineers.
