Ucom joins Armenian Internet Governance Forum as a platinum partner

Ucom joined the 9th Armenian Internet Governance Forum (ArmIGF) as a platinum partner. The forum aimed to address challenges surrounding internet governance.

As part of the partnership, Ucom's General Director, Ralph Yirikian, delivered a welcoming speech at the forum's opening ceremony.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the .am domain, and in celebration, the Internet Society NGO brought together representatives from government bodies, civil society, business organizations, and internet governance experts. The forum's goal was to highlight the significance of the .am domain and to create a platform for discussing the challenges, progress, and future opportunities within the internet governance sector.

"At Ucom, we believe that internet security is essential in this new digital era, where every user should be able to access services confidently. Digitalization is highly important, but it also carries certain risks. To counter these, we need not only technological solutions but also collaboration and responsibility to ensure user safety and trust," said Ucom's General Director, Ralph Yirikian.

"By hosting the 9th IGF event, we have affirmed that this platform lays the foundation for various sectors to engage in the issues of internet governance and collaboration. In this phase of digital development, as the Internet Society and Armenia’s .am domain celebrate their 30th anniversaries, we are pleased to note numerous achievements that have enabled the wider public to benefit from education, economic growth, and well-being. It’s time to outline the tasks for the coming decades," noted Igor Mkrtumyan, President of the Board of the "Internet Society" NGO.

This year, the conference focused on developing digital literacy, establishing a new-generation economy and infrastructure, and implementing necessary reforms in public and governance systems. This approach demonstrates that small countries have substantial growth potential in the digital era, as confirmed by international experience.

Leading experts from the United States, Estonia, the Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and Georgia shared their insights at the conference.
